Is it normal for baby cereal to make my son gassy?

Question by Marissa C: Is it normal for baby cereal to make my son gassy?
I just started my son on baby cereal. He eats quite a bit of it. I only give it to him once a day. It seems to be making him gassy. Does this mean he isn't ready or is it just his body adjusting to it? Or maybe I'm giving him too large of a portion?

Do any other moms have experience with this?
I mix it with formula, not water. I put quite a bit of formula in it. It's soupy.
