Question by judy: Best way to remove sand from mussels?
Ina Garten on foodtv said to put them in a bowl of water and flour. I've never heard of that before.. anyone else heard of this or know why it works? any other ideas for removing sand from mussels at home? Thanks!

Answer by markI scrub them with a brush under cold water and then I soak them for a short while and give them a quick rinse. I've not had a sand problem with that system
