Can I make hot cereal with just oat bran and water?

Question by MKN: Can I make hot cereal with just oat bran and water?
I eat a lot of oatmeal, as in the Quaker rolled oats kind. I'm interested in trying something different.

I'm curious if I could make a different variety of hot cereal with just a regular bag of oat bran, by adding water and cooking.

If so, how would I do it? Does it taste similar to Quaker rolled oats, or completely different?
